Absolutely awful service
Absolutely awful service. they will B.S. you rather than find the answer to your questions. Not sure if it's geographical or cultural, but avoid at all costs.
I booked a room through booking .com, at YATE hotel, having realised and accepted the penalty for late cancellation. Unfortunately, I was too late to make the booking-in deadline due to extenuating circumstances. HoweverI tried several times to advise them that evening so they did not wait up, but there was no responce from the published land-line number; not that I cared as the full cost cancellation would apply in any event. This was duly debited to the card I registered.
Then came the ordeal of getting an invoice.
This is the real "Pearler"; after no less than 15 attempts of trying to contact them I finally got through to the number published, which was in turn diverted to head office who said that I had to deal with the Yate based hotel which I had just rung!!! FFS!
I was told that they do not issue invoices for cancellations, even though they take the full room cost amount!!! REALLY? An invoice has always been a claim for payment, and as no invoice had ever been issued, they had no right to take payment.
Finally, having taken my money, and 5 days later the F"(k-wits sent my invoice. These amatuer Clowns really are too much bother to use again. I strongly suggest the Inland Revenue takes a good look at their financial practices.

Green Jacket veterans rooked by Greene King…
As usual the veterans of the three battalions of Green Jackets and Royal Green Jackets descended on Winchester this last weekend for the annual reunion. The County Arms has been the R.H.Q (watering hole) of the 1GJ/1RGJ for years; we arrive on Thursday and stay till Sunday (university accomodation), on Saturday evening I ordered a pint of Carlsberg shandy and a half of lemonade price was £5.89p when I queried this with the customer services of Greene King I was told the breakdown :- shandy was £3.14p lemonade £2.75p. Disgusted with them, not going in their next year.

Varied experience. Some very poor. Some ok.
Firstly. Greene king is a big company I've visited lots of their establishments over the years. Some better than others. Unfortunately the bad experiences outweigh the good experiences.
I have had an extremely poor experience more recently and I'm really struggling to comprehend why the service is so poor in some in some establishments and is good in others. My poor experience is lengthy, but in brief we booked our wedding at the bridge inn a greene kind pub and hotel. It was booked for over 18 months but they them cancelled due to doing renovations. However, there have been no evidence of doing the renovations on the dates our wedding was booked. Also. I later found out we where not the only wedding to have been cancelled on said date. They had actually double booked and therefore let down two couples weddings.
I am actually now good friends with the other bride. We are equally annoyed with greene king for allowing this to happen. We have both contacted the pub manager on several occassions. The manager sets up meetings with us and then reschedules each time thus never actually meeting us.
We intend to seek advice from court and wish to claim for loss of money through having to reschedule and rebook out weddings elsewhere.
I've given 2 start as I wouldn't avoid greene king completely. They are cheap and cheerful family pubs and are worth a visit. But I wouldn't advice booking any party's, any big bookings or certainty don't go booking life celebrations with them.

Hello Matthew,
Thank-you for your email.
I have contacted our warehouse team and provided them with your customer feedback regarding packaging/delivery of these glasses.
This is being investigated internally and we thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I hope this is helpful and please do get back in contact if we can be of any further assistance.
Kind regards,

They don't answer my emails
I had a £30.00 voucher from them because of an awful meal in one of their pubs in Lyndhurst. I wasn't able to use it because of Covid-19 and our being in lockdown as we're octogenarians with health issues. It ran out of date and I've asked - twice - for it to be renewed and can't even get the courtesy of a response. That's what they think of their customers.
Place is filthy!
Place is filthy! My son went into the play area which is held together with tape and dirt. Ball pit was black and when my son came out he had dirt all over his face and hands. Tables and counters in the wacky warehouse are sticky and menus covered in food.
Moved into the restaurant and when sitting down the table again was sticky and noticed bugs in the picture frame behind the table. Then noticed all the frames one the way out are the same. Didn't stay to eat as hate to think what the rest of the place is like. Will not be returning

Terrible
Terrible! 3 people behind the bar and only 2 working. I ordered 2 drinks, but had to remind the barmaid that have another. She completely forgot. I ordered another 2 drinks and for the price of them, I didn't expect to get watered down rubbish. Terrible!

Arrived at 12:25 at Barley Farm for our 12:30 booking No one at check in to greet us had to wait a few minutes to be shown to our table When ordering drinks had to wait 5 minutes as only one person behind bar Then when ordering food had to wait another 7 minutes as only one person behind bar Thus was frustrating as the manager was sat at end of bar chatting to three members of staff As a queue was building behind us it would of been appreciated if another member of staff had been sent to help Food was great and staff themselves were polite but alas poor management let us down

Received a birthday promotion discount code for 10% discount.
Found booking 5 nights gives 15% discount, if I used the code only 10% off!
The birthday special offer seems to be phoney!
Tale of two pubs
Tale of two pubs. We have a regular pub where we go for breakfast. But something has changed. Thinking it was that the guy in the kitchen didnt know how to clean and cook mushrooms, today we visited another in the chain... presented with dirty (caked on growing medium), anaemic and very unappetising button mushrooms, grey and warmish, the manager did change them, along with the veggie sausages that were of 'Beefeater' standard (not cooked properly). So, have come to the conclusion it isnt a pub issue but a Greene King issue. Can you ditch those awful, tasteless grey 'eyeballs' that pose as mushrooms and use the bigger, Portobello type. Or at least cook the button ones so they look as though the have had an encounter with a cooker. We were not the only ones unhappy in both venues. Shame as we have always supported our 'local' will continue to do so as it is NOT a venue problem, but a chain one.

Disappointing New Sunday Lunch Menu
Please can anyone tell me has Green King lost the plot with their New Sunday Lunch Menu. Who decides on what should constitute a good Sunday Roast, well it is not Green King. My wife and I regularly visit the Cornmill Chillwell for what use to be a Great English Sunday Roast (Beef, Pork, Turkey & Chicken on offer) along with seasonal veg, roast & mash potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and Gravy. Now all that is on offer is Dry Charred Grilled Chicken and Pink Beef not to everybody's taste. It was hard to read the new menu format due to colour & font selection. Overall a very disappointing visit the saving grace being the excellent staff who have always been attentive and welcoming each time we visit.
